Breath and concentrate for a long period of time

I see that many of you have been doing some breathing practice, and here comes the second part. But first remember why you are reading this post, and it is because you are interested in finding a simple method to make you happier at work, more concentrated, more productive but also more relaxed.

A few days ago one of my colleagues asked me how I managed to stay focused for so long. I told him that the daily meditation practice that I do gives me the ability to be more aware. Through breathing I can better listen to the state of my body and mind in the present moment, so whenever I need to go back because I was distracted or need a break I apply some of these different breathing practices.

Lead by example

If you are a manager or a leader or on the way forward, you should know that people can follow you for many reasons, but an important one is that the other likes to have the feeling that you are listening to them, that you are using both ears, your mind and your heart to listen. In order to do this you need to be focused on the message they are giving you.

So, try this one for 5 minutes or more.

  1. Sit in a comfortable position and close your eyes.

  2. Place your right hand under your belly and push your stomach out on the inhalation. Notice how your hand moves outward as you inflate your stomach like a balloon. Keep your stomach relaxed as it inflates.

  3. Exhale slowly and watch the movement of your hand, bring your stomach in the direction of the spine.

  4. Simply repeat this exercise 5-6 times and then breathe normally, keep your eyes closed and watch your breath through the movement of your right hand.

  5. Stay there as long as you want and when you're ready start opening your eyes.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Let me know and share your experience after you've done it.
