Leaders of change understand that the world is changing constantly.

People tend to think that when a change is implemented in a team, a business or in society -and it has positive outcomes- it was something made just from pure luck. In fact, Leaders know that it has nothing to do with luck. They do not trust a process of change to a random force. Because it would be like gambling. Change involves many elements. It comes with several barriers to overpass and leaders must strive and guide the change they want to see.

A leader of change understands clearly that the world is changing constantly. Specially more in this period when uncertainty governs change. These forces, under the view of the less mindful people will leave us drifting in unknown waters. As I mentioned in my previous post the only thing that remains constant, all the time, is that things keep changing… And they are changing at a fast rate!!!

Modern era changes

You can see an example of how fast it is just by observing what is happening around you with the digitalization and the internet. Today, humanity is connected in a way that is improving every day. More powerful, more autonomous, more intelligent. It is thrilling to think that we are generating more information per year than in our entire history. This requires you to be active every time because some doors may be closing but, if you are smart enough, you will discover millions of new opportunities opening in front of you.

The important role of the Leader of change

Once a leader is in position, he/she is the one setting everything up and embracing the vision, communicating this vision to the people and is the first one putting in practice the change that will come. The leader is the first one to adapt to the new, ideal reality.

It is imperative that leaders set their own pace for change or else, the world will do it without being able to react.

One important role of the Leader of change, during these processes, is finding the right managers. It is important to share the vision with people full of hope of life and positivism, that are creative, innovative and see the future with optimism. These managers are the first ones to embrace the times to come and see the need for a change with energy. This professional group in charge of initiating the process of change is called a guiding coalition.

Another important element is identifying the people who are resisting change, as well. Failing in this task could lead to lacks of creativity, innovation, productivity or efficiency in the coalition. So, leaders must try their best when gathering team members. These people are a key element for success.

It is a fact that, when a change initiative is being implemented, there might be people with second thoughts. Leaders must find a way to communicate their vision and ideas to obtain more followers of the change. Once the people understand and are mindful regarding the process, it will only bring joy, easiness and positive energies for them and for the group surrounding.

Do not be afraid of changes

Some initiatives, like entering the digital world, bring worries, uncertainty and anxiety. A professional trained with leadership skills must be aware of these feelings and help to banish this barrier. Take a look to the world around and the people that are already in that wave of change, creating digital solutions, apps, robots, payment methods, blockchain, smart cities and new methodologies. They are not afraid of changes; they are happy to be on top of that wave. It is only a matter of the perspective, be the change you want to see!
