Mantras for concentration and mental stillness
Lately we have learned that our Monkey Mind generates hundreds of thoughts on a daily basis, which, although it is common, is also something that we can exercise through meditation to turn it into a Monk's mind.
Many times we feel that in our day to day we are not fully concentrated. This is not limited only to the personal sphere but also to the work environment. How many times has our mind wandered in a meeting, at the office, in a chat with our colleagues, at a conference, etc?
I would like to share with you another thing that complements meditation, works as an anchor and will also help us relax and focus: mantras.
Mantras are a powerful combination of words and music that are chanted in a sequential, melodic rhythm. The purpose of chanting mantras is to obtain a positive effect on a spiritual, psychological and emotional level in the person who listens to or recites them. This is due to the fact that repeating and focusing the mind on sacred concepts and high frequency vibrations attracts vibrational frequencies of equal intensity.
There are several variants or types of mantras that can be adapted or used according to the objectives of each person, but one of the best known is the basic Mantra (Om) which is universal and can be practiced at any time. The benefits of chanting Om include calming and regulating the nervous system, cultivating deeper presence and clarity, and even balancing your hormonal system.
The mantras can be focused in 4 ways depending on how one wants or feels at each moment.
Listen to it with a meditative attitude
Can be repeated mentally
They can be recited in a low voice moving the lips a little
They can also be recited out loud
How to chant the mantras
Before starting to sing or recite a mantra, it is necessary that you follow the following recommendations.
Sit in a place where there is no interruption.
Pick your mantra.
Identify the intention of the meditation.
Focus on your breathing and follow the rhythm of the body.
Begin to vocalize by taking a slow breath and pronouncing the sound on the exhale.
Follow the natural rhythm of your breath.
Lower your voice until the chanting of the mantra is internal.
Enjoy the silence for as long as you want. That silence allows us to listen to each other, be present and enjoy the vibrations that the Mantra has left us.
Surely at the beginning you need to have the time and space to meditate but I assure you that once you have practiced enough, you will have the ability to focus more quickly and easily.
You can also listen to recordings of mantras while you work or while doing another task as background sound. Although the most optimal state to work with mantras is during meditation, listening to them at any time can have a positive impact on your unconscious mind and improve your energetic state.
I hope you enjoyed it and you can write in the comments if you have practiced it and what is your favorite mantra.
