5 tips to accomplish your New year resolutions - #1 and #4 have BONUS info

Resolutions. It may seem hard to keep up with them.

Resolutions. It may seem hard to keep up with them.

It’s easy to set objectives when a new year is about to start, but sticking to them feels somewhat hard.

And you may be wondering… Why do I feel this? Why does it seem that I can’t keep my own promises beyond February? Or even January itself?

Okay, there might be tons of reasons, but we are not here today to enumerate them. Let’s see what we can do, with what we have, to overcome the situation together.

Follow the next 5 tips and you will accomplish your objectives

1- Review your objectives

What were your new year resolutions? What goals do you plan to achieve? Did you write them down? If you didn’t, then do it. Write your objectives down and try to read them every day.

For example, you can write them in a personal agenda, use a note on your smartphone or, if you prefer, you can record it on a voice note.

BONUS Tip: name an alarm on your phone using your most important goal so that you can read it first thing in the morning.

2- Take a 5 minutes break and Ask yourself: what are you doing to accomplish your goal?

And answer that question with the truth and nothing but the truth.

It’s time to evaluate your habits by looking for which activities can be an obstacle in order to unlock an achievement. Which is that activity that is not drawing you closer to what you desire?

After answering that…

3- Think what changes you can do in your daily routine to start moving towards your objective

Make it simple! You don’t need to start on level 20.  It is okay to set and accomplish small goals each day rather than not doing anything and feeling frustrated because of that.

For example, if you want to develop healthy habits in your life, start by drinking more water, eating more fruit... Make small adjustments to your habits – one at a time.

4- Visualize your goals

It is such an important matter dedicating some time every day to imagine how would it feel to reach what you desire. Try to picture in your mind your future self, after he/she achieved the goal. Think of it like if that moment would be happening right now in the present.

BONUS Tip: you can also write down what you imagine, to picture it better. Make sure you describe every single detail.

5- Keep calm and carry on

Results may not come instantly. It is possible that, somedays, you might feel that you are not making any progress… Or even, that you are not making anything.

But it’s okay to feel that way, we are humans after all and it happens to us all to have “low” days. Try to be consistent and do not abandon your goals because, sooner or later, you will succeed.

We have learned that this is a very “mental” process. It has a lot to do with thinking and visualizing. Don’t worry about the time it could take, you are giving a big step forward just by following these tips and, if you follow my advices, you will start seeing changes in no time.

Remember, you do not have to wait until December 31st at 11:59 p.m. to set your goals. Whether it is winning a marathon, starting a new business or learning how to cook a new dish, you can start planning that whenever you want (that is why I decided to make this post in February).

Now it’s your turn, tell me
