đ âFirst, I transformed myselfâŚâ
The real pros and cons of becoming a transformational leader
For many years, I believed leadership was about execution. Results. Strategy. Action.
I grew up in business environments where leadership meant moving people toward goalsâbut rarely did anyone ask how we were doing on the inside.
Until something shifted.
I had the results. The titles. The recognition.
But I was missing something deeper: connection. Purpose.
Thatâs when I turned inward. I started meditating. Listening. Slowing down.
And thatâs when the real transformation began.
đ§ââď¸ Meditation taught me to listenâfirst to my body, then to my breath, and finally to the silence.
And only when I learned to be fully present with myself, could I be truly present with others.
Thatâs when I realized:
đ True leadership doesnât start with what you doâit starts with who you are.
And thatâs the most powerful benefit of becoming a transformational leader:
you are the first person to transform.
đĽ What no one tells you (but makes all the difference):
You feel lighter inside. You stop leading from pressure, and start leading from presence.
You connect with your team differently. You listen more. Control less. You lead by being, not by title.
You find a deeper purpose. Work becomes a channel for impact.
You become more empathetic. More human. More real.
And best of all: the change you create doesnât stop after the meeting. It sticks. In people. In culture. In energy. And all these things together brings disruptive results to the P&L, and everyone gets greater bonuses.
â ď¸ But be warned⌠itâs not the easy path:
Transformational leadership is uncomfortable.
Because to lead from your essence, you have to look at yourself first. And thatâs hard.
Your ego will resist. Youâll face hard decisions. Youâll need to slow down when everything around you says âgo faster.â
And one thing Iâve learned:
đą Not everyone will be ready for your new version.
Some people will drift away. Others wonât understand. But those who stay? Theyâll grow with you.
đĄ A real moment: the silence that changed everything
I remember a tense meeting with one of my teams in India.
Everyone expected me to jump in with answers and directions.
But that day, I chose silence. I just listened. I breathed.
After two awkward minutes, one team member spoke upâand said something that completely shifted our direction.
No one had seen it. Not even me.
But that insight saved us from a major strategic mistake.
Thatâs transformational leadership.
Not about speaking louderâbut about creating spaces where others can shine.
đ And now?
Iâm still on this path. Not perfect. Not linear. But more present every day.
If youâre reading this, maybe youâre feeling the same call.
I wonât say itâs easy.
But I will sayâitâs absolutely worth it.
Because when you transform yourselfâŚ
everything around you starts transforming too.
